A band from the US I didn't really notice till now but they are really good! the axeman play on 7 and 8 strings guitar and believe me he knows how to use that many strings...no NU UBER metal shit here! excellent pshyche ambiances, catchy leads and fusion like progression...in short, a flawless performance! get it and play it loud!! let's kick sum @$$! ^^

Mascarade is the 8th album released by MR and dude here's a solid album with a good production! all the songs are good and creative, and the tone is pretty neat as well ...with cool vox! I dunno if they can be pigeonholed as a power metal band and don't really give a sh** actually! ^^ but that's just to give you an idea of what they sound like...enjoy it's good music!

Here is a French band which is rather interesting..the music is somewhat atmospheric and a bit melancholic, but the ambiances are really enjoyable! We are miles away from BDM or BM as what they play is rather quiet...acoustic guitars, soft, lyrical, operatic vox, synth...a kind of medieval feel as well... let's pack up and let them carry us away on that forlorn road of theirs...until, as we give a glance backward, only a few of our faint and vanishing footsteps linger on the dusty path, waiting to be withered away into nothingness.

here is another band that we came across a while ago...well they didn't recover much of their sanity since their last release and are still pretty f**ked up in the head! ah ah =D but here as you know it already, it's for the best, as their music gather about everything together in an explosive bundle of contrastive influences...at the moment Diablo swing Orchestra still remains a one of the kind band ..a bit like Nuclear Rabbit a few years ago...who has since then spawned a few followers,... only a few cause the diversity of style encompassed requires a certain proficiency that is not so common down here..DSO might bring about the same outcome! wait and see...meanwhile enjoy their unbridled performance! \m/

Here we go with a band from Beijing =) they play a sort of melodical and yet quite aggressive form of black metal with interesting passages for headbanging and also a bit of speed metal..., if all this isnt enough to turn this band into an outstanding outsider, it is enough make it an enjoyable performer of the Black Art. This is just an EP, but the production is good and also it's interesting to see how black metal develops and thrives on the mainland...a rather unfavourable land IMHO...Chinese BM has its own flavour and I quite like it, as it's indulging in heavy metal rather than in a so called shitsound supposed to create an eerie atmosphere ...though sometimes this works as well! lol

Chinese metal seems to blossom so maybe we can have a look at some of its most brutal representatives! Cankered Corpse is actually a band i quite enjoy as they somehow remind me of Brutal Truth ...more in spirit than in tone!...I mean, they play DM but they have that punk "momentum"/attitude in their songs which i find very enjoyable! otherwise it boils down to guttural vox (not overdone), low tuned guitars and blast beats...yummie! (track two has a problem..like skipping a wee bit!)

This is an American band that will bring you 30 years backward! so what's interesting here for us? well first off, those guys are great songwriters, and proficient musicians...then, they really have a knack for creating melancholic/ethereal spaced out atmospheres..and finally they know how to rock! they don't sing that much and lots of tracks are actually instrumental. Finally i'd say that they are somewhat the counterpart of Pink Floyd in their early days...and would probably be as famous, had they been born a few decades earlier! ^^

Henker plays some extreme hardcore or deathcore as some might call it...they come from france and are pretty violent..maybe the present dwarfish French "king" should be wary! ah ah ^^ the music pace is rather fast and the vox are either growled or guttural..this is just a demo or MCD but those guys are defenitely worth a shot! the guitar work is good (as it often tends to be boring in this genre) and agressive ...all in all a very good start! check it out! \m/

Well many bands claim to play Satanic DM but actually most of them are just laughable failures with shit songwriting and a shit sound...however, once and a while the left hand path allows one of those bunches of pretenders to be successful! Infester was the name chosen to destroy the armies of the light and their feable waning spirit! the guitar sound is really thick (as the overall sound is actually!) the atmosphere is really dark and the vox utterly guttural with the occasional burzum-esque scream here and there .. all this done in a properly and timely fashion of course...a true celebration, like a black mass creeping up the unfathomable pits of hell to ravish unspoiled and tender eardrums!! ^^

I met those guys in pubs as their guitar player was producing the album of my friends, ...a pretty cool and funny bunch of guys indeed, almost as crazy as their music! to make it short Punish Yourself is all about depravity, SM & Bondage, Pornography,Drugs and Cyberpunk culture...well at least now you have an inkling of the kind of hobbies they might be indulging in! ah ah On stage their have fluorescent zombie outfit and are on the rampage... a looney crossbreed between Ministry and KMFDM... enjoy and of course ....wallow in filth! ^^

Let me bring you to ... Mongolia!! The other day I was watching a movie from that country (pretty cool one entitled Mongol, about the Genghis Khan)...but it would never have occured to me that in this untouched and pristine countryside a DM combo was to be found! Аясын Салхи plays an old style of DM in the line of Krabathor for intance or maybe The Crown / Crown of Thorns...pretty technical with awesome riffage! I don't know if Mongolia has other DM band but this one is well worth a shot believe me! \m/

here's some pretty cool album...old school DM from Sweden..rather rare nowadays to find a good band in that genre! don't look for anything new or original here ..first you'll be really disappointed and second you'd be completely missing the point...old school IS what it means...you know it by heart but still.. it just puts a big grin on your face whenever you hear it! the songs are all rather short, they don't try to overdo it, it's just for fun, to keep the primal spirit alive! =D bearing that in mind, you are ready to ride with them! i dont know much about this band but i really enjoy them...they just play their sh$t and don't give a fu&k! yeah!! \m/ ah ah hey you!! yeah you!!..gimme sum beeers boneheadfuck$r!!!! ^^

Manyfingers, despite the name is actually a one man band by Chris Cole. I think this guy has an interesting approach to music, he plays every instruments of course but what chiefly drew my attention is not that, it's the way he adds them on top of each other, so many layers of sound! actually i dont know how he does it to keep the overall sound so loose and tight at the same time! of course the obvious drawback to this approach is that by using loops one cannot develop or maybe unfold his ideas thouroughly, unless you use very long loops of course! ^^...but that's also to make do with the limits imposed by a framework ..and i think he handles it pretty well whatsoever! enjoy!

Welcome to the Czech Republic! not so often that we go there! as you know nowadays metal including jazz/fusion is "quite" common...but here you have to look at this album the other way around...it's jazz including metal...which is far less common, especially when the kind of metal we're dealing with is DM! what's the difference you might wonder? ^^ the difference is that even though it can be really heavy and loud, and a mixture of both genre, some songs are just plain jazz, which might seem a little bit out of step to some listeners! anyway, the guitar work is really impressive with incredible ambiances and intricate melodies...well, enough said i leave you here and let those proficient musicians do the talking! =]

This time we leave France to go back to the country of the rising sun! 睡蓮 which is a name of a flower is here a duo making some sort of electronic music...sometimes it makes me think about the soundtrack of FF7 ...though it's not really the same I guess!lol anyway, a very relaxing kind of music, with interesting arrangements and melodies...perhaps a bit like Every Little Thing at times but with more traditional influences and ambiances, and also a more Trip-Hop kind of sound....check'em out!

Welcome to France again, in the city of Nantes to meet 3 crazy guys! ^^ apparently French like numbers...after 37500... it's now 29/09! a very short album but very interesting IMHO, of course pretty brutal! ^^ packed with loads of energy and a raw sound..a bit like punk actually, 29/09 will not leave you a minute to breathe...the pace of the album is not that quick (there are some pauses here and there!) it's not really a typical grindcore band ...but the songwriting is rather gripping to me!...fells a bit like on a rollercoaster when you cling to the handle with all your strength cause you're afraid of getting chucked out of the car! ah ah....don't forget to snatch and axe as you fall down...they'll be waiting for you down there! =D

Here we go with 2 guys from France who like to indulge in experiemental music...overall it's like free jazz i would say but it can be quite agressive and violent ...and psychedelic! =) If you remember Cheval de Frise, then it's in the same line, though they use more instruments ...like a saxophone ...and they also have a brass section or some stuff sounding somewhat like that! ^^...also a bit like Microfilm, if you know that one, they have some ambiances with samples at times...well to make a long story short lotta things in it...i let you dig that one by yourself, don't get lost! \m/

Blackshine - Lifeblood (2006)

Here's a cool album mixing rock and heavy metal, as it is now somewhat a trend in the music industry, with all that Death'n'roll and Black'n'roll...the band is from sweden and they released an album that is actually quite original, the band drew many of its various influences (punk, heavy rock, death, gothic..) into its music and in the end they manged to create something quite enjoyable, i couldnt find a song i really disliked =) the guitar is great and the vox as well, there are many breaks and change of ambiances...well, give it a try you might like it...and I think they deserve it!

This is a girls band from Findland. I don't think they are very famous but anyway they are highly entertaining!.. This is their first album and as often the one with the weakest production..though it's not that bad! They play some kind of angry (sometimes sweet) punk rock ...a bit like L7 to a certain extent ..though i'm not much a fan of L7...i much prefer Bitch Alert... Nothing really technical in this album, it more about the energy and in-your-faceness if i may say so! so put your helmet on and have a go, we're on alert!

This great guitarist comes from Rio de Janeiro and this album has been composed and produced...and whatever...all by himself! Honestly this guy is really really good and i love his style! though he plays mainly hard rock / heavy metal, he goes thru a sh%tload of style...whether it is funk, fusion, jazz, ballads..it's easy to see he has loads of influences perspiring through his playing...a brilliant release that i highly recommend! don't miss it! \m/

I don't know if you remember but i already played that band a while ago, the album was called No Alternative...this one here is the first they released, pretty heavy mixing korn like rhythm with outburst of violence, weird noises and vox, and soft melodies...to make it short a great release by unhinged musicians...too bad this band split up in 2006 it was a brilliant one! enjoy the power of Visual Kei!

This is the last album by this Polish band formed in 1999. I dont know why but it's like a constant... Poland produces technical and very heavy metal bands! maybe they have a hidden factory somewhere where they can brew talented and proficient musicians from test tubes! ah ah! whatever, an excellent album of heavy thrash with everything that it entails...chuggy and speedy rhythms, freaking leads and powerful coarse vocals! enjoy! \m/

Vakarm (which means vacarme = a racket/smth. extremely noisy)is a French BDM band from Amiens, Picardie (Northern part of France). They are pretty technical and despite the agressivity of their music they still retain a sense of melody...actually I think they have pretty good ideas ...but that's just MHO of course! ^^ they split up 2 years ago so you won't hear of them anymore whatsover...hope you enjoy that album, I think it's a cool one! =)

Andreas Kisser - Hubris I & II (2009)

I guess there's no need to present the lead guitarist of Sepultura...Here's is first solo album and a rather good one IMHO....you'll feel a certain sense of familiarity with the melodies at some point...well it's Andreas Kisser playing! 2 CD with a brazilian feel and of course a metal/rock one...actually these 2 CDs (electric and acoustic) are pretty ecclectic (ethnic, "ambiant" metal, stoner, heavy metal, bossa-nova, oriental music, classical..and so forth!)...one thing that struck me are the reviews about this album...overall they are far from welcoming! ^^ I can understand a bit as this album is, just like Kisser and his leads in Sepultura, pretty experimental (lots of whammy bar and sqealing sounds!), which means that you'll need several listenings and an open-mind to get into it... so I leave it up to you to give this one its chance or not... I'm glad I did! \m/

Welcome to Brittany (Bretagne), a region in the northwest part of France, Gurkkhas will take you a ride! don't worry there'sll be plenty of beer! ^^ This band was formed in 1999 and despite their talent they are not that famous! Playing DM is not an easy job we all know that! With all the copycats and talentless bands out one can easily get drowned... but you'll see Gurkkhas is far from being uninteresting ...honestly I think they achieved an almost "perfect" album, the vox are great without being overdone, the drumming is frantic and bang on time, bass and guitars will go through your ears and bones like a hacksaw through butter! one might argue that this album could be improve here and there...maybe...but if all albums were of that quality DM would rule the world! ah ah ! \m/

They formed in 2004 and are still unsigned,.. this album was self-released for that matter...I don't know if it's a choice of their own or a consequence of the stupidy of our modern music industry... whatsoever, they re pretty good and I think they deserve some attention from real music freaks! word of mouth is the only way to survive underground! ^^ here we go chuggy rhythms, highly technical and melodical leads, brillinat songwriting ... the songs are consequently never boring...be prepared for an uncontrollable surge of serious headbanging! \m/

I remember once when I heard that some guys from Dimmu Borgir were creating a new band to play big ballsy R'N'R, I thought it was a really cool idea..but when the album came out, even though it not bad, it was not exactly what i expected! so here we are again with the guys from Yrkoon and Scarve (2 French bands) doing exactly the same! great minds think alike as the saying goes! ah ah! but this time the outcome is actually quite different and much closer to what i expected in the first place! like a super Motorheard! only remember...this band's just for fun! ^^

Mithras is a DM band like no other and I must say even though i dont listen to them that much they are one of my all time fav band! first the guitar work is ...well...i dunno...from another planet!lol it's heavy like Morbid Angel but also psychedelic with soundscapes beyond your imagination...like craftmen of old and forgotten times, these lads are blessed with creativity and imagination...they clearly see beyond but i'm not sure they behold madness...maybe it's rather some kind of unknow beauty! \m/

here we are in the green pastures of England, with Biomechanical who formed in 2001, 8 years already! they play metal but it is somewhat a progressive form of it...not so easy to define, a bit like Pantera but more complex, intricate and symphonic...I let you decided what to call it! ^^ what i like best is the rapid changes of ambiances,.. pretty catchy ...and though this album is rather short overall you'll need a while to really dig it! so turn it loud and... take it easy! \m/

This band comes from Sweden (they split up a few years ago) and though this album has been produced some 20 years after my previous play, the music is somewhat in the same line! the prod is much better of course! ^^ Slayer and Metallica are once again the main influences! cool riffs and vox, crazy leads and typical thrash drumming! a very enjoyable album ...especially as it only last for half an hour! Thrash Rulez!! \m/

Anacrusis - Suffering Hour 1990

My third attempt at this play as either the proxy or Adrive seem to have good fun at blocking/crashing my browser ...hope it works this time! ^^ this is an old band playing thrash metal in the vein of Slayer and Metalica in their early period. The production might sound a bit old as it been produced a while ago but the riffs are still pretty good and catchy...and also i like the screamed vox! so if you've never come across that band before check it out I think it's worth it! \m/

Fractal Gates - Altered State Of Consciousness (2009)

This is the first album of that band and .... what a beginning! I listened to a lot of DM in my life and that one will stand on the top shelf straightaway as it is really good! this band covers so much ground with its music that it's definitely a pleasure to listen to the songs...none of which will bore you or bring about a feeling of deja-vu! I dont know if there is something like progressive DM but that could be it...like a crossbreed between septic flesh and dark tranquility..in one word ...brilliant! just grab it!^^

Fatal - Barbarism 2007

...and the crows eventually flew away as stepping on crushed bones and broken skull strewn upon the ground, the mighty warriors braced themselves awaiting the forthcoming battle! =D That could be the first feeling you have when you listen to the opening track of that album! and it matches exactly the one inside of me as i listen to it and write those lines! ^^
Fatal is a French DM band playing technical chuggy rhythms to which they add melodic leads (even jazzy sometimes). Overall they play a conventional (though complex and intricate)type of DM but they have that little thing which makes their songs different and catchy...hope you like it!
