Hate Forest - Purity

Welcome to Ukraine! that fine Slavonic country! not so far from mine (but not so close either!lol)...also homeland of that great band called Norkturnal Mortum! Hate Forest as you've certainly guessed is BM band (what else could it be with such a name!!) It's nothing mainstream, we're more like "in the underground" here... but surprise! the production is good! ah ah! Well if you've never heard of them, let's say it's kindda in the early Burzum style...that is with equally dark atmospheres but definitely more powerful! Don't expect anything original from that album...this is just plain and simple but this is what i call BM, ...no poppy shit like Dimmu Borgir for instance!...i puked on their last album incidentally!! ah ah!! so let's have a stroll in the Hate Forest, rambling along the rawness of The Black Spirit!lol
enjoy!

Hexstatic - master view 2004

if I remember well (which is not for sure lol) I discovered these guys (a duo from the UK) by looking at who took part in the soundtrack of the movie called Snatch. their style is some mix of easy listening electronica in the vein of The chemical Brother, and more experimental / ambient stuff, ...even including a song sung in Japanese!lol. These guy are pretty good at what they're doing ...actually i don't like the second track too much but that's the only one you might want skip (and it's not so bad even so!lol) cause everything else is well worth listening to!!...well let's say it's a moment of calm before the upcoming storm! enjoy!

Dodheimsgard - Supervillain Outcast (2007)

Black Metal again? well yes and no! overall we can say this is BM because of the ambiance and general atmosphere of the songs but it's nothing of the usual stuff! actually there are a lot of electronic / industrial noises and the music is more like thrash to my ears than what you would expect from a BM band! it's not weak lol but it's certainly not extremely violent either! anyway the musicians are pretty good and the songs great as well so if you are ready for a creative band, that should not be a problem! i leave you to it...but i guess that if there are dudes to sit their shinning bottoms on the fluffy throne of "EBM", that might well be them! ah ah! =)

Tsjuder - Desert Northern Hell (2004)

Well! how to begin??! ...if Tsjuder was a toy, let's say it would be sharp and not intended at kiddos!lol indeed, nothing really original here, we all know that kind of object are not intended at everybody... but who has never wished to own one!?? ..this could be the occasion actually! ...Tsjuder is an underground band, so keep that at the back of your mind when you'll listen to the album, cause as you'll see these norsemen are proficient musicans and it's only at one remote from excellent (some improvement could be done on certain lead parts but whatever!). i underline the fact cause it's pretty seldom the case when we speak about underground BM! ...what a bunch of wankers! ah ah! the album is very intense =) (there are a few mid-paced passages in the songs though) and overall it's in the vein of stuff like Darkthrone or Marduk from that point of view. Pretty good assault IMO...if you like the art of warfare of course! enjoy this epic act of darkness!

Kataklysm - Live In Deutschland - The Devastation Begins 2007

I'm sure you all know about one of the greastest 死亡金属 band from Canada (Quebec)! they released a DVD at the beginnig of this year...and Sh#t, what a gig! this is the CD that comes with the DVD ( i guess you can get the CD on its own as well...so GET EITHER ONE OR THE OTHER!!lol) whatever! i'm drifting away sorry! =) Kataklysm which is a band i grew up with has lost nothing of its brutality, technicality and destructive power after more than a "decade of aggression"!!lol ;) well,...no more bullshit, this is real death metal, that is DM at its finest! what do that mean?? ...uhm .. just that it will turn you into a frenzied bloodsucking beast ready to cut up the whole fuck##' hood with your claws and splatter guts on the walls!! ah ah! seems pretty good a perspective, uh??? dare you try not to listen, that Mighty Odin himself would come down is chariot of thunder and kick your ass so hard you'll think you're in time warp??lol ...but we don't want that, do we??! of course not!lol enjoy the musical cataclysm my friends! \m/

Dengue Fever - Escape From Dragon House 2005

This is an American band which plays quite refreshing pop (or perhaps it might even sound experimental to some (rather secluded!) people!lol) i pretty much like the voice of the chick singing...somewhat psychedelic!! ;), i'm sure many of you will feel about the same! the music is overall very much influenced by late 60's pop/rock...and you can feel it as it's really funky and GrOovY!lol the bass lines are really cool IMO, though their are not very complex!lol there's definitely a South American colour to the music but there are certainly other influences, as to me it sounds also a bit "Asian" at times ...whatever, a pretty decent record which i recommend warmly to each and everyone of you! =)

Ozric Tentacles - Strangitude 1991

This band, i'm sure you've never heard of! well at least i had not till a friend of mine recently sent an album to me by mail! if you like stuff like early Pink Floyd, or Porcupine Tree for instance, you'll certainly won't forget it! this band has been playing since the early 80's so you can easily figure out the kind of sound they'll deliver. the music is pretty psychedelic with lotta synth and noises/sounds, the guitar are really in the 70's style, like Hendrix to a certain extent but it's not guitar oriented at all, more like ambient overall...well i'like that stuff a lot indeed! i'm glad he gave me that!lol BTW, this is from a double CD so this is just one of the 2 CDs, as it was a bit too big/long to upload, but if you're interested i'll play the other one! let's say it's some kind of ear warm-up!lol have a nice trip...don't go too far! ah ah!

Blind Idiot God - Undertow 1989

This is an all instrumental album which is not really easy to describe!, actually i'd say the music is divided between what's more or less on the "punk" side of the fence and what's more or less ina a "dub" style... but that's very approximate a description, as it's rather experimental whatever the style they're playing!lol actually there's a featuring with John Zorn... so you see why it's kind of a pain in the arse to give you an idea!lol hope you enjoy!

Metal Safari - Return to My Blood 2006

Japan has some serious warriors within its bosom, and Metal Safari is certainly not among the weakest!lol they have a very thight and heavy production that fit perfectly their style cause they play some Pantera inspired metal (far beyond driven period) but of course they are not only a replica otherwise i wouldn't even have payed attention! overall they are more melodical than stuff like Pantera (with the use of clear vox, in the style of DOWN a bit) which paradoxically give their music even more power in the end!lol anyway, prepare for serial riffing and some crazy headbanging! somehow a tribute to Dimebag! R.I.P \m/

While you're all sound asleep, it's time for a sneaky play!lol This is a band from Michigan and they play...guess what?? yes that's it! the forbidden words!lol ... 碾核!! yummie music! Well actually it's not the typical pig screaming boring Grindcore, it's a mixture between 死亡金属, 碾核 and experimental! of course as any grindcore band, they are full of resources to come up with unexpected titletracks, like track Nb 4! music wise, it's a bit like Cryptopsy meeting Deicide ...in a shaker!lol so beware you never know what to expect from these lunatics! even the bravest warrior must remain on his guard! c'me on, let's have some fun with the bad guys! =)

Bob Katsionis - Imaginary Force 2004

This is not really a guitarist, but on his keyboard, this guy is a real guitar hero!lol actually, his name is not really famous but most of you already heard about him as he played with many warrior band! such as Nightfall or Septic flesh to name a few! (he's from greece so no wonder!lol) the songs are pretty original and the musicianship is top notch, no doubt about it! don't worry it's not only a scratchy old boring keyboard lol, you'll hear plenty of nice guitars and double bas as well... but guitars are only playing rhythm...and to tell the truth there's no problem having this guy replacing a guitar hero! you'll quickly guess why! =) enjoy this fantastic (IMHO!lol) album! \m/

No Return - Self Mutilation (2001)

For 花燈節 or 元宵節 (i prefer the first one!), i'll light my lantern with the flame of a band from Paris which play a very energetic Thrash Metal! They are not very well know (even in France!) though they are indeed pretty good, and definitely don't get the attention they deserve IMO! Their music is a bit in the vein of Slayer or Testament for instance,... that is quick paced with good riffing...and nice leads (well, good 90's Metal style!!lol) one of their particularity is that they use samples (more on their following albums) to create various ambiances and give their music a somewhat original touch (which is not so easy with thrash!lol)! hope you enjoy!

Rwake - Voices Of Omens (2007)

Rwake is a band from the south of the U.S but they do not play anything connected to country...even loosely!lol Actually their music is very heavy and dark, and rather experimental(or psychedelic!)...a bit like Neurosis's. Well to cut a long story short, if you like old school BM atmosphere(in the vein of Burzum, or Dissection) or stuff like My dying Bride, and fancy at the same time weird sound textures (there are indeed many instrumental parts) with raw and angry vox, DO NOT miss that one, cause it's pretty F##ckin' good! ;)

Air Guitar Battle Vol. 3: James Byrd - Crimes Of Virtuosity (2005)

It's late, and i'm rather tired, but hey "fight till you die" they say! so i'm still standing amidst my forefather and lo! listen,... at this decisive moment, a striking and powerful anthem rises high into the air, like a super warrior, in the style of Malmsteen or Blackmore, Byrd spread his winged suit of armor (lol!) and rises above the bloodstained battlefield, and with a perfectly mastered intensity, and a stormy, stunning classical battle style, he hits flawlessly and relentlessly at the enemy, spreading death n'roll in an unrivaled enthusiasm! Never underestimate sheer willpower! ah ah! \m/ ^^ \m/

Melechesh - Emissaries 2006

This is a band the leader of which is from Jerusalem i guess, otherwise they are from the Netherlands! They plays a mixture between metal and more oriental/traditional music (but not too much even so!lol). Their music is quite technical and agressive but it's above all refreshing and original! if you know about Bethzaida and the colour of their music, it's a bit like that (the oriental influences i was talking about) but much much more powerful!lol Their lyrics focus on old sumerian legends (dating back to 3000BC, a bit less old than the Chinese civilisation!)that recount the birth of humanity, many are connected to Zacharia Sitchin's The 12th Planet (if you have time to read it!)! Overall an excellent album to which you should lend an ear forthwith! Hail!

Elend - Winds Devouring Men (2003)

This a the beginning of a new year so i guess it's time for me to give away my blessing for this coming Pig Year. You know that i like this french band called Elend quite a lot. As i consider these musicians to master their Art like no other, this album, which is one of my favourite, will be my token of gratitude and friendship to you!
Regarding the music, with this album, the Biblical trilogy is now over so it opens the way to new perspectives, especially regarding vocals. But don't get me wrong, Elend may play classical-inspired music, their ambiances are IMHO certainly on par with the most extreme ones, suffused with the darkest emotional content any black soul out there can create...a flawless and eternal journey into lands where the sun never shines...so better take your umbrella if you lost your horned helmet!ah ah!

Dragonlord - Rapture (2001)

That last play of your my bro, like Odin's mighty call, has somehow awoken a memory under my horn adorned helmet! DragonLord is back to life in my heart! That band of crazy maddafackez is certainly well known among you and famous for their great and heroic deeds!! Among other, let me say that in this band you'll find Eric Peterson from Testament \m/, Jon Allen from Sadus =D, crazy Steve Giorgio from Cynic ^^ and also 2 other less famous warriors! Xtreme and melodical, you named it! look out! a lightning bolt has just streaked the sky open and all of sudden the earth turned red! off we sail, on our chariot of fire! i'm wielding my sword! ah ah! \m/
