UneXpect - Utopia (1999)

That one would have really pleased 大A兄 as it is a damn fine album about sailors and unexplorered intergalactic seas!lol these dudes are from the french province called quebec, canada, and they will not make your ears bleed, they will make you headband untill your head snaps off your neck and fall down to the ground!! actually that's the kind of band we often look for but are helpless to find! there's about all and everything in their music, it's symphonic, powerful, atmospheric, goes from gloomy death/black to epic power/prog... man, if there was but one metal band to rescue on this goddamn planet, these dudes may well be the one eligible for they mix up the finest elements from metal music with a proficiency seldom witnessed before, if ever! A little jem shining out in the outter darkness of the cosmic sea!

Onslaught - Killing Peace (2007)

Onslaught is an excellent band from the U.K (England) which started in 1986 and since then they always remained heavy, speed, and brutal! this album here is only to be released in March 2007 so the cover above is not that of the album...you'll have to wait for the official release to see it!! ah ah too bad! Anyway this new album by the thrash legend Onslaught is simply and truely awesome (reminds me of early Metallica and Slayer material), and the production improved a lot, it is now very good... indeed, it was produced and mixed by Andy Sneap (Megadeth, Exodus, Arch Enemy) at Backstage Studios, Derbyshire...so there are roaring guitars, powerful drumming and groovy bass, aggressive vox...well thrash metal at its best! a must-buy when it comes out...meanwhile enjoy this new masterpiece! \m/

Anand Mahangoe (guitar)
Mistheria (keyboards)
Lars Eric Mattsson (guitar, bass, keyboards, vocals)

Progressive is not my style at all, but i must tell this is nevertheless a very good album, ...and actually i find it doesn't really sound like most of the stuff we (or i) call progressive!lol...of course it's lyrical and technical but to me, this band sounds closer to stuffs more or less like Iron Maiden! and if you like guitarist, Anand Mahangoe from Sphere of Souls is a fine musician who know how to stay original while playing very cool melodies and powerfull riff...or nice ballads! =)

Henderson, Smith & Wooten - Vital Tech Tones 1998

This trio plays jazz/Fusion and all the musicians are top-notch to say the least, so the musicianship is flawless and rather impressive, but that's not really that important! what's important is that their song have a really cool and groovy feeling that is often discarded in that musical style ...and often replaced by a boring display of vituosity and shredding! here we have both, the virtuosity and the groove, and believe me they are acting as a foil to each other...like blues rock with amphetamines!

Susan Weinert Band - Crunch Time

Here's a highly skilled woman from Germany whom i recommend warmly if you've never listened to her, which is most likely as she isn't that famous outside the jazz-rock /fusion circle! she could be considered some sort of guitar hero as well, but her playing is much more subtle and emotional and not that freaking quick, but anyway the musicianship flies high on that record, whether we're talking about the bass player, the drummer...or any of the musician for that matter, and my ears greatly appreciate it! style wise, she's not really like Shawn Lane but there are similarities between their playing here and there of course....well to conclude, with this one we have top notch musicians and a freaking awesome album! so check it out!

Tamás Szekeres - Guitarmania

This guy is from Hungary i guess, and the album was released at the beginning of the 90's (though the very first version of it is from 1989, but he re-recorded afterwards!) this album as very nice leads, cool ballads and the likes...of course it's not really revolutionnizing anything and if you can't stand guitar heros, better keep at bay!lol but otherwise this is a pretty good instrumental album that anyone will appreciate either for its melodical content or its technicality! a nice shredder that do not only goes for speed but also melody! =)

Gorath - The Fourth Era (2006)

Well to present that one, i was tempted to begin by saying that, at last, i had found a BM band with a decent sound quality and well composed material, cause that is the case but after several listening, i realized that what i like more about this awsome band is that it somewhat represents the sum and outcome of many of my favourite bands! If you like Emperor, Satyricon, Immortal, and (but this one is more remotely connected) Dissection, listen to that one straightaway! and if you just wonder what an awsome BM band sounds like in 2006 then this is an excellent one for you! wield your axe and have a nice trip on Odin's chariot! \m/

Natsumen - Never Wear Out Your Summer XXX!!! (2006)

This is a Japanese band made up of not less than 8 musicians! there are two guitarists, a drummer, a trumpet player, two saxophone players, a keyboard player, and a guy strumming the bass! being jazz it's of course quite technical and the musicianship is excellent but what's interesting is that this band is eons removed from the style! they are an utterly spaced out psychedelic octet and you'll be freaking out, blown away, phazed out in the intricacy of their music, whatever happens to you it'll only be a matter of seconds! period! don't miss that one! \m/

Deadman - No Alternative 2003

Deadman is a Japanese Rock band (域界/visual rock?) made up of 4 dudes and i reckon it may be well known among you! I don't have many info about them so anything is welcome, the good side being that this will prevent me to speak volumes about them!lol actually they play very good rock n' roll and this is an album i enjoy quite a lot for it has good melodies, rocking rhythm, and of course the musicianship is great!

Russian Circles - Enter (2006)

This is a band from Chicago with only 3 members in it. They have no vox but play very catchy and epic riffs, and loads of groove as well. But there is more than that, i'm talking about the ambiance here! They sound like metal but their structure is more like a jazzy / post-rock kind of stuff, and surprinsingly enough, their songs give somewhat the impression of a rather chaotic and dissonant energic wave which is yet very quiet! 6@@ captivating! ...don't know if that sounds very clear to you!lol but what is clear to me is that this is a damn fine discovery! enjoy a grandiose band!
